Next 2 transfer windows
What’s people thoughts on what we need in Jan and then again next Summer?

I was looking at it last night and possibly quite a bit to do again.

Fabianski possible last year
Randolph last year
Dawson wants to go up North
Ogbonna probably finished
Cresswell 33 in December and contract is up in 2023.
Rice - probably off to Chelsea
Lanzini - seems he is surplus now
Coventry- probably not going to make it

That’s 8 right there, plus Antonio will be 33.

I think Cresswell will get a year extension and Trott come in for Randolph, so maybe 6.

We also have some players out of form who would be good to upgrade.

Rob Newman needs to earn his money.

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
the problem is moyes still showing favouritism to certain players that should be moved on, so the only areas where I think we're short are CB and out wide. an attacking midfielder that can play on either side would be nice and give us four that can do the job, and allow bowen to play central if one of the two main strikers gets injured

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
I think we'll need players all over the pitch that could challenge the first team, bar right back where it looks like we have enough cover.

So yeah, about 9 or 10 players that could challenge for the first team. Pretty much similar to last season. My guess is that we haven't learnt any lessons from last season, and we'll limp through the season and buy a load more players next summer.

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
Most of those who are past it/not good enough/likely to leave are British players, so we'll need to buy British again to keep up our home grown numbers, which severely limits who we can buy, and at what price. If people thought the last couple of windows were bad, I wouldn't hold out much hope for the next ones.

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
I like what little i have seen of Ashby but there seems to be an issue there within the club that needs sorting .
The full back positions are by far the biggest priority at the club now ,sadly i don't think Johnson is up to the level required and as much as i like Cresswell we need to improve at left back but i feel this will not be easy .

I'd like to see us have 2 or 3 top strikers. Not including Antonio.

OK, maybe just above average would do. The kind of option where we don't have to play Bowen up front. Or Antonio.

Mostly agree there. I don't think we've got any full-backs at the club who are good enough. Ashby - maybe, but he seems determined to leave.

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
Kehrer played right back for PSG last season, he's played in a Champions League final there and seems to be good enough to be Germany's first choice there.

I'm not buying it that he isn't good enough for us to be playing right back.

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
I'll agree that Kehrer is better at full-back than centre-back, but I suspect that time will find him out.

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
Kaiser - I completely agree with that, a proper Striker to either play with (never gonna happen) or compete with Scammaca.

Get Antonio out on the wing to push Bowen and have another forward option.

I think Moyes will go for Broja again in the summer, probably in a deal involving Rice.

CB is my other area of concern, if Dawson goes and Ogbonna still struggling after that big injury - with Aguerd coming back from surgery and Zouma’s knees some proper back up there would be good.

That’s what I’d want to address in Jan.

Then the summer is another mini rebuild.

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
As Nagel has previous suggested, we're looking fucked for home grown players for next season.

These are the current ones:
Aaron Cresswell
Michail Antonio
Darren Randolph
Jarrod Bowen
Craig Dawson
Declan Rice
Ben Johnson
Conor Coventry
Flynn Downes

I can see not too many of them being here next season. We'll need to buy BRITISH this January and next summer. Moyes will likely leave it until end of next August though.

Top of the list has to be a new fucking manager.

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
Priority has to be a keeper.

I mean, if Fabianski and Randolph are off and only Trott promoted, who is going to take that second GK space on the bench?

We need a world class manager to compliment our world class team in a world class stadium.

Is it worth bringing in anyone, Moyes can't handle what he's got?

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
Priority is a new manager. If we want to compete in this league. Quality is going up around us all the time - as much as we spent in the summer we have not kept pace.

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
Not only do we need young promising talent, ideally need them to be British too.

If Dawson, Randolph and Rice do go our homegrown quota will be non existent.

Guessing Randolph is a HG player.

Pub Bigot 1:10 Wed Oct 26
Re: Next 2 transfer windows
Randolph is considered homegrown. I can't remember if the Irish aren't regarded as foreign or because he was developed in an English academy.

Hopefully it also means any promising youth we have is being considered for the first team.

Jonathan David said in a Sky interview that he couldn't say no to a "massive" club.

Pretty much asking us to sign him, right?

Re: Next 2 transfer windows
Realistically for home grown players you are looking to the championship or perhaps players in the likes of Brentford, Palace or Fulham that want to move for better money and aspirations. Chelsea also have players on the fringes or out on loans that are decent.
